......... The Gordon Setter from Scotland is heavier than other Setters. He reaches 26.5 inches in height, but is built more solidly than other dogs his size. Therefore his gait is more heavy, but no less quick. The Gordon Setter is a tireless worker, and requires rigorous exercise, which he always does with pleasure. He likes to eat and for this reason can easily gain weight. His coat is long, thin and shiny, black with red spots on the muzzle and legs. Like all Setters, he slowly passes through a lanky and clumsy adolescent stage, but after that turns into a strong, majestic dog. His coat requires rather thorough care, but not too frequent. This dog can be an excellent friend, as well as a great hunter in the field or on marshlands.
