Desription .........  The bloodhound is a big and willful dog. He is heavy; at 26 inches tall he can weigh 121 pounds. He acts straightforwardly, working his way around, over and through obstacles like ditches and walls. Wearing a collar and walking on a leash, he can pull his owner along somewhere despite his active objections.

Many are acquainted with the Bloodhound’s appearance: he has too much skin, which folds and gets in his eyes, making his lower eyelids droop. The long ears hang down onto his cheekbones; that’s why it is said about him that he sweeps all the scents into his enormous and very sensitive nose with his ears.

His huge body is supported by a massive skeleton, and they are typically portrayed in cartoons as following a scent by lowering his head towards the ground. Bloodhounds are stately and tender, but they don’t tolerate mistreatment, and may cut any such familiarities short.
