......... The Dachshund is bred with three varieties of coat and is shown in two sizes. The weight ranges from 11 pounds for miniature size Dachshund to 20-26.5 pounds for a standard size dog. The Dachshund can be Longhaired, Smooth and Wirehaired. The same structure of body is typical for all six variations. Their bodies are very long, which allows them to follow their prey even under ground (Dachshunds specialize in badgers, though they can hunt foxes equally well)

Great companion for Singles :
I really love these miniature pets I now have in my house, actually I have three of them. I love their playfulness especially when we are playing and they start chasing golf balls round. They say that dachshunds are stubborn, fortunately, however I had very little trouble about training mine. Maybe it would just also depend on the handler. Of course there were moments when they really are hard to train but those were very rare ones.
Although they have loud barks, for me, I consider these barks music, well, simply because the barks give me assurance that my pets Peter, Paul and Mary (that's what I named my dachschunds), are healthy and alive.
They give me company when I move around the village, especially during late afternoon walks. When I get home, I trained them to get my bedroom slippers which I placed near my main door for easier reach. With them, I don't feel I am alone in the house. I highly recommend this breed for single people like me, they're great.

Selecting a puppy
: Despite his personal preferences, the would-be dog owner should consider carefully the practical adaptability of the dog to a particular environment or to the company of certain people.Example a boxer would not be the ideal companion for an elderly woman;a dachshund would not be the right dog to defend one's property against robbers;and an Eskimo would suffer in a warm climate.

Can dogs have celebrity names?
: I find it interesting to name the dogs with celebrities' names. You can call your pet Sharon or Michelle. Beautiful dogs deserve cool names. What do you think?
