Desription .........  The Otterhound is a big-boned, shaggy dog, which grows up to 27 inches. The scales under its weight stop at 88.5 pounds. Its size, of course, could be why the Otterhound looks so important. In 1978, after the otter hunt was banned in the UK, the line of this breed continued, owing to the Kennel-club, which registered it as an independent breed. In the USA, the breed was already registered at the beginning of the 20th century.

Otterhounds move with a quick, fast gallop and are cautious dogs. The owners must train them and not get angry when the dog brings twigs and mud to the kitchen after a family picnic. The Otterhound is more of a pack dog. Being shaggy and massive, the Otterhound may not make a good pet.
