Desription .........  The Labrador Retriever was bred in Greenland. This dog has a solid build; his coat is short and coarse, water-repellent and dries quickly. For some time black-colored dogs were the most widely spread, but in the last 50 years dogs with a yellow (not golden) coat color have become very popular.

Today, there are also dogs with a chocolate coat color. The Labrador’s height is 23 inches. Although not massive, he is very solid. Other characteristic features include a relatively short tail, covered with dense hair, which is sometimes referred to as an “otter’s tail.” Like the Golden Retriever, the Labrador Retriever has a lot of talents, but is best suited as a guide for the blind. (These two breeds are often interbred to emphasize their strengths.) He also is used by drug control agents and is used in the army for mine searching. His other abilities become apparent when he is fetching prey out of water.

The Labrador can easily put up with a lot noise and running around, which is why he is considered a perfect dog for a big family. In addition, the Labrador isn’t touchy at all. He can eat any amount of food, so if you don’t want your Labrador to put on weight, put him on a strict diet. This dog needs physical training, which is why you should walk him regularly and for long periods of time.

Kids' Stuff : My kids love our labrador retriever so much that they would not let a day pass without having to play with him. He is such a good playmate to my 10 and 12 year old boys, they run around the garden and play dog tricks. Years
back before we bought this lab, it was very difficult to keep my boys together as they would always quarrel over petty things, now, they share a common "toy" which is our lab, they rarely fight. Our dog has developed a different level of bonding between my kids and I really appreciate that. I
gave this advice to my neighbors who had unruly kids, and those who
followed my advise were so grateful. I read in one dog review that the lab is good in therapy work, and I can really say that they do. Our lab gave me more than therapy, actually, it was like a
"counselor" to my boys. It is indeed a very intelligent dog.
Our labrador retriever has very good temperament, giving me little or no trouble at all. What I like about it too is his good appetite. Unlike other breeds that are so difficult to breed, our labrador is so easy to feed and it eats a lot.
This is a great dog for mothers like me having problems with kids. It provides kids a room to forget about their tantrums.

Rescuing Dogs : I already have a Labrador Retriever named Hunter. Just the other day, I saw a Rottweiler outside our yard. I noticed that he was a little dirty. I was a little hesitant to approach him because I don't know if he is trained already or not. It was a good thing that he was very friendly. I looked for a tag and there was none. I then decided to rescue him. He looked very hungry and indeed he was. I am so glad that I rescued him and now I have two babies and they get along very well. How about you?
