Desription .........  The Giant Schnauzer is the largest specimen of the three Schnauzer varieties. The appearance of this giant dog is similar to that of his smaller Schnauzer brothers, with the same lines of body and the same square shape, but the Giant Schnauzer has a height of 28 inches. His color is the same as the smaller Schnauzers – black, or salt and pepper. Naturally, the Giant Schnauzer looks more imposing.

First employed as a cattle dog, the Giant Schnauzer became popular as a guard dog in Germany and Great Britain. Because the Giant Schnauzer is obedient and easy to train, across Europe he is used as a police dog. The beard and mustache of the Giant Schnauzer suggest a threatening look, which can have a deterring effect on even the worst of criminals. The coat of the Giant Schnauzer requires regular trimming, and despite his size, he doesn’t eat much. The Giant Schnauzer makes an excellent pet and loves to be part of a family.
