Desription .........  Probably the most famous breed of dog, the German Shepherd is highly trainable, and are used as sheep herding dogs, police dogs, and as guide dogs for the blind. Police forces, armies, drug enforcement agencies and private detective agencies around the globe put the German Shepherd to good use in their endeavors.

There is some controversy on the standard of this multi-functional breed. Traditionally, the ideal height of this proud and mighty dog should stand about 25 inches high, and the length of his body should slightly exceed his height. Hair length is another source of controversy, with some insisting that hair of moderate length is ideal, with others preferring a long coat. The coat color of the German Shepard ranges from black, to black with fawn and sable colorings.

White or cream-colored German Shepherds are not uncommon, but it can bring loud protests from dog show officials when such dogs are put on display. All of this is a matter of taste, but any German Shepherd, regardless of appearance, is clever, easy to train, and a first-rate domestic pet with a sweet, obedient temper.

My dogs are anti-social : As you all know, my husband and I rescued a female German shepherd and we named her Asia because we have always wanted to go there. I know it is a weird name for a dog but we are in love with it so we do not care. Anyway, I have two older Rottweilers at home and I think that they do not like Asia because when she comes near them they would bark at her like crazy. Is there any way that I can make them to get along with each other? The dogs are OK but they do not seem to like our new baby. Help me please because I want them to get better so that they can play with each other.

Problem with my new rescued dog : My husband and I just rescued a female German Shepherd a few days ago. We found her roaming around the street. She was very dirty and she smelled really bad. We decided to take her in since we did not see any tag or collar on her so we thought that she is a stray dog. Anyway, we have had her for about 3 days now and she is really nice and sweet especially to me. However, I think that she has some problems with my husband because whenever he tries to pet or touch her head, she starts to shake and pee. I do not know why she is like that to Mark but she is doing OK with me.

Suggestion on what breed I should get : I want to get a watch dog for my family but I am also thinking of other things to consider. I want a dog that is medium in size like maybe a German shepherd or Rottweiler but I also want a dog that will work OK with my 3 young girls that always have their friends going in and out of the house. Will that be a problem because my friend told me that dogs do not do well with children they do not know. Also, I want a dog that will not need a lot of exercise like maybe all I can give them is 30 to 40 minutes a day because I work and I also take care of my kids. Thank you! I hope that you will be able to help me.

Doberman, German Shepherd, or Rottweiler : I am thinking to get a new dog and I have my choices between a Doberman Pinscher, German Shepherd, and Rottweiler. I love big dogs but I also do not want a high-maintenance dogs. Do you know any other breeds that I can get? I am more into the Doberman because I like its over-all look and that it looks might and powerful. The Rottweiler more looks like a family dog and I think that my little kids will love it, but they may get afraid of the Doberman because of how it looks. Do you have any advice for me? Also, maybe you can share with me some info about these breeds of dogs? Thank you!
