Desription .........  The Japanese Akita, or simply Akita, is considered by some to be a working dog. The most suitable word to characterize this powerful dog would be “fighter.” His height reaches 28.5 inches at the withers, and the body and extremities are such that, according to legend, he can beat any champion bull. The Japanese bred him like a fight dog, and his temper – for male dogs, of course – is often simply shocking.

One of his most attractive feature is his remarkable color – from white through multicolored and striped to grey. Whatever color it is, his coat is always dense, soft and shiny. Such a coat should be groomed thoroughly.

The Akita has a lot of features that are typical for Spitzes: pointed upright ears, a wedge-shaped muzzle, a solid strong body and a curled tail. But no Spitz can ever be so striking. Akita is a very muscular dog and he needs much exercise. He also needs to be controlled, as he is a bright dog and likes to be the leader. He eats much, but isn’t greedy. This dog isn’t good for a family. If you would like to get a dog of this sort, it is better not to ask “Would this dog be good for me?” but rather “Would I be good for this dog?”

Difficult to groom : This dog breed is to intense for my taste. Had for about a year and had to give it to my friend for adoption. This dog is very powerful. Its background is of a fighter dog.
