Desription .........  The Canaan Dog was recently brought to Europe from the deserts of Middle Asia; his native land is Israel. Much of the wilderness still remains in him, and he needs further domestication. The Canaan Dog is an athlete among other dogs, his height at the withers being 24.5 inches. His build shows that he is a quick hunter, rather than a ponderous worker. Therefore, the Canaan Dog eats in moderate quantities.

The coat of the Canaan Dog is of a moderate length, making it easy to keep in order. The color can vary from sand to red, as well as black and white. He has the instincts of a good guard dog and a hunter. As far as his way of life goes, he fits better in the working dog category. A Canaan Dog loves physical training and freedom. He gets accustomed to his environment rather quickly, but still needs time to adapt.
